🔒 PinLockr Vault

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Welcome to PinLockr: Photo & Video Locker ("PinLockr", "we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application handles information when you use it.

By downloading, installing, or using PinLockr, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Our Privacy-First Approach

PinLockr is a local, on-device file locker presented as a phone dialer. Keeping your private files on your device is the core purpose of the app.

We do not collect, view, store, transmit, sell, or have access to:

Vault content and security credentials stay on your device unless you choose to unhide/export files back to device storage (for example Downloads or the original location when available).

2. How Your Data is Stored

Local storage only: Files you import (images, videos, audio, documents) are moved or copied into PinLockr’s private app storage on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers or any cloud service we operate.

Private vault (not a cloud locker): Hidden files are kept in a private area of the app so they are not shown in the normal gallery/media library while they remain in the vault. The app may use file move/rename (and related system APIs) to hide and restore files quickly.

Note on older versions: Earlier versions of the app used additional on-device encryption for vault files. Current versions prioritize private storage and hide/restore performance. If you still have files from an older version, they may still be stored in the previous format until you unhide or re-import them.

No user accounts: PinLockr does not require registration, login, or an online account for the vault or dialer.

Backups: App backup is disabled by design to reduce accidental exposure of vault data through system backup services.

Important: If you uninstall the app, clear app data, or factory-reset your device without unhiding your files first, hidden vault content may be permanently lost. You are responsible for exporting/unhiding files before removal.

3. Permissions We Request

PinLockr requests Android permissions only to provide its features:

Permission Why
All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) Import, hide, move, and restore files between public storage/gallery and the private vault.
Media access (photos, videos, audio) Let you select media to hide. We do not upload your media library to the internet.
Contacts (read) Show and search contacts in the dialer/contacts screens and place calls. Processed on device only.
Phone / Call (CALL_PHONE) Place calls from the dialer or contacts. We do not record, store, or upload call logs.
Internet Load third-party advertisements and related ad network functions (see Section 5). Not used to upload vault files.
Advertising ID (AD_ID) Used by advertising partners to serve and measure ads, consistent with Google Play policies.
Vibration Dial-pad haptic feedback.
Network state / Wi‑Fi state Support ad loading and basic connectivity checks for ad features.

PinLockr does not request camera permission and does not capture photos or videos with an in-app camera.

4. Security Features

PIN-protected vault: Access to the hidden vault requires your private PIN entered on the dialer keypad.

Optional decoy (fake) vault: You may enable a separate decoy PIN that opens a different local vault for non-sensitive files. Your real vault stays behind your main PIN.

Unlocking the Fake Vault feature may require watching a rewarded ad (optional, user-initiated). If an ad cannot load (for example no internet), the feature may remain locked until an ad can be shown successfully. Closing a rewarded ad before completion does not unlock the feature.

Recovery question: If set up, your recovery question and answer are stored locally to help reset your PIN. We cannot recover your PIN or vault contents remotely.

In-app preview: You may preview some vault files on device (for example images, video, PDF). Preview may temporarily create a readable copy in the app’s private cache. That content is for on-device display and is not uploaded by us.

5. Third-Party Advertising

PinLockr is free to use and shows ads through Start.io (and related advertising infrastructure) to support development and maintenance.

Advertising partners may process technical and advertising-related information, such as:

Ad formats in the app may include: Banner ads, Native ads, Interstitial ads, App-open / return ads, and Rewarded video ads (for example optional unlock of Fake Vault).

We do not share your hidden vault files, PINs, recovery credentials, or personal media content with advertisers.

Start.io privacy information: Start.io Privacy Policy

Where required by law (for example GDPR/EEA), ad partners may show consent options or serve non-personalized ads based on region and device settings.

You can reset or limit your advertising ID in device settings (wording varies), for example: Settings → Google → Ads

6. Data We Collect (Developer)

As the developer of PinLockr, we do not directly collect personal data from your vault files or dialer usage, and we do not operate a backend that receives your vault content.

We do not currently run separate analytics or crash-reporting services that upload your private vault files.

If you email us for support (Section 11), we receive only what you voluntarily include in your message.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Limited sharing may occur only through advertising partners (technical/advertising data as in Section 5) or legal requirements, if compelled by valid legal process.

We never share your hidden files, PINs, or recovery credentials.

8. Children’s Privacy

PinLockr is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information in support email, contact us and we will delete that correspondence when appropriate.

9. International Users

PinLockr is a local device utility. Because vault data stays on your phone, rights such as access, deletion, and portability for vault content are exercised by you in the app (unhide, delete, clear app data, uninstall).

For advertising-related rights, use your device ad settings and the privacy tools of Start.io / applicable platforms.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
